Goals

Where do I see myself in next 1 and 3 years? This is a hard question because no one can know the exact answer to it. From the early childhood I wanted to be a Doctor, because I come from a family which has a lot of medical professionals and as I grew up I saw them dedicated towards the health of other people and being from the same family I have the same heart and so I always wanted to be the one who would be able to contribute for the health of the people. I understood that all I wanted to be requires good education. Studying at school, I tried to consider all of the opportunities in order to decide what will be the best for me.
I know that a lot of things can change through three years, but I know what future I want for myself.
I think that as most of the people in this world I want to have a successful education, good job, and a happy family.
Right now I’m in my 2nd semester of Master’s of Public Health from Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad. I have graduated as a Dentist and all my dentistry coursework that I completed has viewed health at an individual level, focused more on the treatment. Whereas I intrinsically wish to improve the health, not only at an individual level but at the population level. This was my main reason to pursue my education further in Public Health.
If I have to tell where I would see myself in the next 1 year I would say I would be in my 4th semester, would be doing an internship with a recognized organization, would be working towards completion of my Thesis and would be enjoying the last few days of my college life.
I hope that after graduating from my master’s program I would have the skill and knowledge, also I will be acquainted with a great number of people who would understand me and can help to make my future. I’m the most interested in research, I remember my Faculty telling us about how India eradicated Polio, the steps, the effort of every single health worker that put together such a great task and it actually blew my mind and since then I am dreaming to be able to be a part of the team that would eradicate other diseases from India, maybe Tuberculosis is one disease I really want to help in eradicating. But I’m very much aware that all my dreams would come true only when I put in my 100% towards my goals. So, for the next three years I would like to see myself working for all possible opportunities I could get that would take me one step further towards my dream.
Other than being a Public Health student I’m also a very creative person, I like to paint, do paper craft, I love interior designing. So in between all the hard work I also see myself creating all the different things I like
I hope that the next three years will be very productive for me in personal, education, and work spheres. However, I clearly understand that my plans can change because of some unpredictable things. The most important thing is that I’m ready to overcome obstacles,
There is saying “That we should be grateful for the rocks life throws at us because someday we would see them as Stepping Stones.”
I know that life would give many challenges, I would be meeting new people, and I will do everything possible to become successful and happy.

  • While I was making the YouTube Video I gained more confidence in speaking in front of the camera. It taught me how important is to keep your fear aside and get out of your comfort zone for making a video of your own and knowing that it would be posted and many people would see it. It really helped me in overcoming my shyness or fear and do something out of my comfort zone.

  • While writing any blog or presenting a PPT for any specific topic requires a lot of research. You collect so much information but to put it in 10 slides or 500 words is the big task. It really helped me in understanding what is important and how should I present my PPT or blog in a way that the opposite person is able to understand.

  • I was assigned Uzbekistan and if it was not for this internship assignment maybe I would have never got the opportunity to learn about the Public Health System of the particular country. I learnt how to do a proper research from authentic sources. I learnt how to categorize my research. I learnt how to differentiate between an advisory and a policy.

  • 1. IT skills
    2. Communication skills
    3. Interpersonal skills
    4. Analytic skills
    5. Strong work ethic

  • During my internship of 2 months, I learnt a lot about data collection and organization. I learnt how to manage the given data and organize them in a format which could be used for research.

INSPIRE Virtual Experiential Learning Program - EVALUATION MATRIX

I wanted an Internship that would provide me with a platform that would make learn more about public health as a whole, data collection, management, organization and other aspects of a good Public health worker. FHTS gave me all this and during the Pandemic through a virtual internship it really helped me in gaining knowledge and confidence for the field.

The policy and advisory work I did for Uzbekistan really helped me in learning so much about so many things.

I would recommend INSPIRE program to others.

My name is Dr. Anjali Masih I have graduated as a dentist and currently pursuing Master’s In Public Health from Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad. As a part of my curriculum I had to do a 2 months’ internship with an organization. I got to know about FHTS through a friend and when I researched about the organization I saw that FHTS was doing some great programs in Delhi and it was a great platform to learn about more aspects of public health and health informatics. The Pandemic is a hard hit on everyone and to get an internship was a difficult task. FHTS started with an virtual internship and gave a perfect opportunity to learn more skills required for a public health professional. My 2 months’ journey with FHTS has been a time of learning so much about data management, public health policies, advisories. The staff at FHTS is so helpful, always available for clearing your doubts and teaching you new things. Dr. Ashish Joshi who is the academic head inspired me to make my work more understandable and to put in all your efforts no matter what happens. He gave so much time in seeing our presentations and teaching us how to do better. It was an enriching experience of working with FHTS and I would look forward to work again in the future.
