Goals

Prior to Masters in public health, I worked as a dentist for 7 years. While I have found this journey into public health to be a refreshing change, I have been concerned about the impending job situation. In the next 1 year, which will be my final year, I hope to learn as much as I can about research methods, in which I have become very interested. Also, I discovered that I enjoy working with statistical software. Therefore, I hope to become more fluent in SPSS, learn some more concepts in biostatistics so that I can learn one other software, like SAS.
After devoting one year to learning, I plan to get a job in a reputed organisation where I would work to improve my skills in research. I want to work in organising and conducting programs focusing on improving accessibility to health for the most vulnerable sections of society. In the upcoming 3 yrs. I want to steadily apply my knowledge in research and bring policy change. One of the most troublesome aspects for me is the state of children in war torn countries, while I am currently contemplating on how to help them, that is where my focus is. These children have been denied basic human rights- rights to safety, health, education, housing and a lot more. While these children continue to live and grow in horrible conditions, they face a very uncertain future. The pandemic has further increased the gap between health supply and health demand. I want to work in an organisation that will allow me to do meaningful research and bring about policy change that will provide education, housing, medical care to these children. Although currently I have no idea how I am to go about it, this is what I see myself doing in the near future. This is how I see myself in the future- working on policies to improve the health and living condition of children belonging to vulnerable sections of society.

Testimonial

My period of internship coincided with the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Therefore, I opted for a virtual internship at FHTS. Initially, I had some concerns about how the internship would be conducted. However, it was a rewarding experience and I have gained valuable knowledge that has prepared me for my professional career. I was assigned a variety of challenging tasks that has helped me develop a wide range of skills. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to applying all that I have learnt in FHTS.
