Goals

As an individual, I’m a people person. I like meeting new people and learning about their lives and backgrounds. My background in Dentistry did help me to come across many people. Some of them were batch mates with different ethnicity, teachers and professors with different background and most important of all different patients with different kind of issues. That made me realised to work in the field of public health.  Public health promotes wellness by encouraging healthy behaviours to perform research and assure that they educate the people about the healthy way of living. To pursue this, I decided to do my master’s in public health.
In next one year, I want to successfully complete my masters and start with my career towards public health. During this time, I plan to extensively focus on my academics so as to do well in my career. Also, due to the times in Covid-19, this has caused much uncertainty as well. This has made me understand that it is very much important to be prepared for all the scenarios.
In the next three years, I plan to work towards public policy with main concentration working towards health policy. I want to pursue my future career working towards advocacy and research background in health policy. I see my future to plan, implement, and assess programs. To gain the skills to lead multidisciplinary teams, train employees, and allocate resources. This will help me to align an organization's policies with government regulations and standards.

  • Making You tube video made me understand the importance of mode of communication. How through medium of mass communication like you tube we can voice our expressions towards different issues, or may we what all we can communicate at the public platform.

  • I got to learn a lot of new things about the place about which I was totally unaware. Also writing skills were a crucial part which helped me to improve further as I have learned that professional write ups are different than normal paragraphs written.

  • Got to understand the public health systems of the different countries.
Putting up whole of the information and summarizing in 5 slides was something very important skill I learned.

  • 1. How to use the dashboard
    2. Interpretation of the information
    3. Analysis of the data graphically
    4. Evidence based interpretation of the data
    5. Understood spatiotemporal visualization

  • As I was in the virtual internship program, gathering and analyzing the graphical data through SMAART RAPIDTRACKER was important aspect of my learnings.

INSPIRE Virtual Experiential Learning Program - EVALUATION MATRIX

I wanted to learn more about how a public health graduate works and what are his/ her responsibilities.

Making presentation, presenting it in front of various other interns, public speaking, presenting skills and doing research on the same helped me.

I would recommend INSPIRE program to others.

I am Dr Krati Shrivastava and currently pursuing Masters of Public Health from Prasanna School of Public Health, MAHE, Manipal Karnataka. As part of my curriculum I had to complete one month of internship with an organization. My 2020 virtual Internship at Foundations of Healthcare Technologies Society (FHTS) provided me with the valuable hands- on experience to apply my theoretical knowledge and skills to professional setting such as interpretation and analysis of the data, summarizing and enhancing my presentation skills. It has been a wonderful experience to gain insights and in depth knowledge about the functioning of different public health system across the globe. During these Covid-19 times, FHTS has given us a really nice opportunity to do our internship. This learning experience will serve as a building block in my near future and will certainly help me build up my career as a public health student.
