Goals

I Priya Gupta, a Dentist by profession. I am currently pursuing MPH from Manipal University with specialization on Health Policy, in the next one year I see myself completing the MPH degree successfully with knowledge, capacities and skills of working in the team. I will be joining to any organization like government, non- government or any private in my district and working as policy maker to achieve specific health care goals within a society. I even want to work as a public health project manager along with the clinicians in different areas. Creating multidisciplinary teams to work together to deliver highest quality of care. I would like to carry public health specialist and dentistry together in reduction of dental caries among school going children and reducing the incidence of oral cancer among adults.
In the next three years I want to do research in the areas of my interest and would like at least 1 or 2 to be published. I always want to keep myself open, learning new things from my seniors as well as juniors. I would be working with WHO or UNICEF or international program development like organisation as a public health services administrator. My main focus will be on policy formation and analysis. I would carry my skills developed in the public health services administrator outside the clinical to different sectors and in either rural or urban communities. I would keep my career flexible, experiencing new things and developing my interest to have the opportunities to improve myself.

  • The skills acquired while making the video was how to face the camera, speak clear and in very concise manner and understandable to others.

  • This was the first time I wrote a blog. The skill which I developed was how to write in very concise manner when we have lots of content in just 500-700 words.

  • I learned to do a comparative analysis among the country assigned to me (Finland and India). Secondly, making ppt in 5 slides and presenting in 5 minutes was difficult because going through lots of literature and then making a gist out of it was difficult but not impossible.

  • 1. I framed the layout of the ppt for the country
    2. Search the official site of the country to see its health system or WHO
    3. Decision made on what should be there in the ppt in 5 slides
    4. How to explain the slide during presentation
    5. Compared the country assigned with India’s health System

  • 1. Reviewing and collection information from various relevant sources
    2. Referencing
    3. Presenting and designing ppt
    4. Working on excel for making Epidemic curve
    5. Reviewing from countries own guidelines and relevant resources

Testimonial

My experience of internship in FHTS was very good with learning new skills and motivated me for my future.
Their focus on the internship program was to enhance the public speaking skills, writing skills and provide equitable work distribution among the interns. I learned to do a comparative analysis among the countries assigned as part of my assignment, its public health system and trend analysis of COVID-19 using SMAART Rapid Tracker which is designed by the FHTS team itself. And even I wrote blog on the same for the first time which was a great experience. The organisation is working on various projects with collaboration with ICMR and has very active and supportive team. Hence this virtual internship program helped me a lot during this pandemic situation.
